Suite 34 fashion show is back!
Last week I was invited to be a part of the designing team for Suite Fashion. Suite Fashion is back, it takes place at Suite 34, the upscale and charming bar/lounge located in Ottawa's Byward Market. Each Friday during the next 5 weeks you can enjoy there the Ottawa's night life with a glass of martini, watching the last creations of the local designers. For the night of Nov 6th, 2009 it was everything about the “Eyes Wide Shut” theme.
This theme appealed to me the most and it inspired me to create the little collection representing a day and a night. Each complimenting pair of garments varied in details only but it made the outfits appear very different. That's how even the little things can change the whole look, even with the eyes wide open. But imagine things with the eyes wide shut – how beautifuly we can loose our sense for reality, not being able to distinguish between a life and a dream, a day and a night. Are we really living a dream or are we dreaming a life?
Every Friday from now (until the Big Finale on Dec 4th) the host Kenny B heads a panel of industry luminaries, including judges, Ruby Cheng & Daniel Mackinnon from Spade Magazine, Angie & Lou Seymour from Angie’s Models, and an array of guest judges from Holt Renfrew and TV Hosts from Ottawa’s top television shows, as they decide who is "in" and who is "out."
The Suite Fashions contestants will be whittled down week-by-week to the finalists who will show their own line in front of an audience of fashion industry movers and shakers to win an all expense paid trip to New York’s Fashion Week and have one of their designs featured in the Spade Magazine.
I was very flattered to win this round on Nov 6th. But most of all, it was great fun being there, mingle with friends and watching all the beautiful creation of other designers that night (Guerdina Cruz, Yolande D. and Misha M.). Job well done!
